Family & matrimonial law, approached with clarity and care.
Advocate Jagdeep Kaur advises and represents individuals before the Family Courts of Mumbai & Thane and the Bombay High Court — across divorce, maintenance, custody and related matrimonial matters.
Matrimonial and family disputes are rarely only legal — they are personal.
These are the areas I regularly practise in. The notes below are general information, not legal advice.
Divorce — Mutual Consent & Contested
Guidance through the dissolution of a marriage under the applicable personal law, whether by mutual agreement or by contest.
Maintenance & Alimony
Claims and defences for interim and permanent maintenance for a spouse and children.
Child Custody & Guardianship
Custody, guardianship and visitation matters, decided on the welfare of the child.
Domestic Violence
Reliefs and protection orders under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.
Judicial Separation & Annulment
Judicial separation, and nullity or annulment where a marriage is void or voidable in law.
Section 498A & Dowry Matters
Advice and representation in cruelty and dowry-related proceedings, for complainants and for the accused.
Restitution of Conjugal Rights
Petitions where one spouse has, without reasonable cause, withdrawn from the society of the other.
Streedhan & Matrimonial Property
Recovery of streedhan and the resolution of matrimonial property and financial disputes.
Mediation & Settlement
Negotiated settlements and court-referred mediation to resolve matters with less conflict.
NRI Matrimonial Matters
Cross-border matrimonial issues involving non-resident spouses, jurisdiction and enforcement.
“A family matter is never only a legal question. It is a chapter in someone’s life — and it deserves patience, discretion, and genuine care.”

Common questions
The grounds depend on the personal law that applies to your marriage — for example the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 or the Special Marriage Act, 1954. Commonly recognised grounds include cruelty, desertion, adultery and conversion, alongside divorce by mutual consent. The appropriate ground for your case depends on your specific facts.
